Pastor Apollo Carreón Quiboloy, the founder and leader of the religious group, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name, Inc. became the subject of jokes of “It’s Showtime” host Vice Ganda on Tuesday.
Going back to where it was started, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s name resurfaced anew after videos of him claiming he was responsible for stopping the 6.6-magnitude tremor despite evident geological reasons made rounds online.
Quiboloy said he was drinking coffee in Samal when he told the magnitude 6.6 quake that originated off Tulusan town to stop.
“Sabi ko, ‘Lindol, huminto ka.’ Huminto,” Quiboloy said on the October 30 episode of “Give Us This Day,” a weekly television show produced and aired by the pastor’s religious sect.
“Pasalamat kayo sa akin kasi kung hindi ko pina-stop ‘yun, marami kayong magigiba diyan, mamamatay kayo,” he said.
Despite the unreasonable claims, Quiboloy’s videos still gathered many supporters on Facebook.
Some Filipinos, however, criticized him and his supporters with the use of memes online just like what Vice Ganda’s joke looks like for them.
Doing his usual banter with co-host Jhong Hilario in the show’s “Tawag ng Tanghalan” segment, Vice Ganda joked that Quiboloy would probably be the greatest enemy of Dalisay (portrayed by Coco Martin).
“Alam mo kung sino ang magiging pinakamatinding kalaban ni Cardo? Naku, kabahan na si Cardo… Feeling ko si Quiboloy, ‘yung nagpahinto ng lindol,” he said, drawing laughter from the audience. “Si Quiboloy lang ang magpapahinto ng ‘Probinsyano.’ Abangan niyo ‘yan.”
Vice Ganda went on to challenge Quiboloy to stop “Ang Probinsyano” from airing, and ease traffic on EDSA while he’s at it.
“Hinahamon kita, Quiboloy,” he said. “Ipahinto mo na ang ‘Probinsyano.’ Napahinto mo pala ang lindol eh. Napakayabang niyo pala eh.”
“Sabi niya raw, stop. Sige nga, punta ka ng gitna ng EDSA, stop mo ‘yung traffic doon.”
However ever, the supposed to be a joke suddenly became a personal attack and showing of disrespect to the religious leader according to the broadcaster Mike Abe of DZAR and Sonshine Media Network International. Both companies are owned by Pastor Quiboloy.
According to Abe, What Vice Ganda did was clearly an insult to Pastor Quiboloy because the hosts didn’t know him personally.
On Abe’s program Usaping Bayan last night, November 5, the veteran broadcaster expressed his personal opinion on what Vice Ganda said.
He first questioned the host’s screen name why it came up with Ganda.
Miek Abe then shared why he respect the Pastor,
Next to this, Abe also criticized the management of ABS-CBN for allowing this kind of statements on national TV.
Abe clearly stated that his statements is personal, nothing to do with his company nor Pastor Quiboloy.
The broadcaster defended the religious leader saying that the Pastor is highly respected by many even some of the politicians in the country.
This time, the broadcaster can’t control himself anymore and frankly cursed the Its Showtime host.
At the end of his personal statement, he warned Vice Ganda not to do this again because just in case, Abe didn’t know what he can do to Vice when they cross path.
Vice Ganda and the ABS-CBN Management still not saying anything about this.
