Piolo Pascual and director Joyce Bernal allegedly cast out in Sagada, Mountain Province.
Piolo Pascual and director Joyce Bernal are suppose to shoot for the upcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA).
But allegedly, the Sagada council, in an emergency meeting, denied Bernal’s crew to shoot in the tourist resort town.
On their official Facebook page, the Sagada Municipality released a statement regarding the incident.
“Both declined the request,” the municipality wrote on Facebook.
However, by July 5, the team was informed that Bernal, Pascual, and their team were on the way to Sagada to shoot. The MDRRMO then called for an emergency meeting regarding the matter.
On Monday, July 6, a Twitter user named Mia Magdalena shared that Bernal and Pascual’s team went to Sagada.
But the local government units asked them to leave.
“So, Piolo Pascual and friends went to Sagada but were asked to leave. Rightly so. It was Piolo, Director Joyce Bernal, and his team including PNP/military escorts. Purpose: to shoot background views for D30 SONA,” the Twitter user wrote.
Apparently, in a report by Sun Star Baguio, they explain the Mayor’s statement about it.
“Sagada Mayor James Pooten said the team of film director Joyce Bernal with actor Piolo Pascual was asked to leave the highland town despite having travel papers and authorization from Malacañang for the sake of the health of its people.
“Pooten said health and safety of his town has to be put at the utmost priority and added no amount of permits and authorization can sway the decision of its stakeholders to keep the town sealed from tourists
“We hope to keep Sagada Covid free, hindi nakukuha ito sa palakasan ito, health kasi ng mga tao ang kailangan [alagaan],” the mayor said.
Sagada is one of the C0V1D-free city in the country.
